I think 9-to-5 work is rubbish. Why? It’s because not all people perform their best at the same time.
I am most productive working at night – when distractions are minimal. I sleep after midnight, after I finish working things that require my creativity a lot. I tried to wake-up-early-and-work-in-the-morning pattern, but it just doesn’t work.
I’m just different, and if you are like me, you are as unique as I am. It’s okay to be different!
The thing is, you obviously want to do the most important work of the day at the right time, when you are feeling most productive and creative. Indeed, there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to productivity and creativity.
So, if someone is trying to change your work pattern, you might want to show some proofs that you are working the way you are working because you LOVE it – with the capital letter. Very, very interesting – I think my daily routine is pretty similar to that of Gustave Flaubert, the author of the controversial “Madame Bovary.”
