Winning and succeeding are not the same things. In life, you are always winning and losing. In business? Ditto. You win and lose. Oftentimes you lose more than you win. But that doesn’t make you a failure.
True success is not like what people think.
You see, success is not synonymous to winning. Success is about mindset. Success is about doing the best you can do, regardless of winning or losing. Success is about getting up every time you fall. Success is about the courage to fight in a seemingly impossible battle. Success is about keep on pursuing your dream when others say you are crazy.
But don’t take my word for it. Let a legend explains it for you. Perhaps the best person to explain the difference is John Wooden.
Coach John Wooden passed away in 2010, but his legacy remains. He is the US college basketball legendary coach who bought UCLA to win 10 NCAA national championship in a 12-year period. He has this knack for leading and motivating players to play the best they can.
In 2001, he shared this wisdom – watch and listen with undivided attention:
Very inspiring.
Here’s for your takeaway: “Success is peace of mind attained only through self-satisfaction and knowing you’ve made the effort, do the best of what you’re capable.”
Have you done your best today?
