How Poor Body Language Impacts Your Job Interview Success Rate

This video features communications coach and female business coach Christine Jahnke, author of the “Well Spoken Women,” giving tips about voice quality, body language, eye contact, and other great first-impression-making tips for job seekers.

Christine’s 2 main points of advice for making a great impression in a job interview:

  1. Good steady eye contact (goes without saying in any form of human contact, hard for the shy at heart.)
  2. Good steady posture (how many of you reading this are guilty of terrible posture?)

While Christine didn’t recap about the importance of voice quality at the end of the video, it’s worth reiterating the importance of a strong, confident, inviting voice in a first meeting. So often our nerves get in the way when meeting a new person, making our pitch too high or too low — too squeaky or too monotone, etc.
