I took something different away from it though.
I like what Loren Becker’s saying in the video about better team building by encouraging friendships with management and coworkers outside the office. We have to deal with all sorts of ups and downs in our family and romantic relationships, so why can’t work and play mix to a certain extent?
I think the key is that you and your “work friends” need to be able to separate work from life.
This is where most of us go wrong.
When work is going well, it’s easy to sit around on Sally’s deck and rejoice about your day. However, when we fall into this bad habit, it’s inevitable that eventually that bad day’s going to follow all of us to our social functions and soon everyone will be less enthused about that weekly after-work hangout session.
