Have you ever wondered how funders discover top founders?
Jeremy Levine of Bessemer Venture Partners explains they way he finds entrepreneurs whose startups have a good chance for survival. Here’s his explanation:
If you want to invest in a startup, here are some tips from Mr. Levine:
- Founders are different from one to another, and spotting one is difficult. Find someone unique, someone exceptional, and in term of co-founders, their teamwork and whether they are complementing each other.
- Statistics can lead your way, but it’s best to have yourself or someone you trust to be an insider, e.g. becoming a user of a web startup; becoming a customer of the restaurant, and so on.
- Hot trend: Vertical marketplace/end-to-end marketplace – e.g. Uber.
