It’s official: Instagram is bigger than Twitter, in term of user base. But is Twitter losing to Instagram? Is this the end of Twitter?
Okay – let’s stop being dramatic here. The fact is, things are more complicated than you think, and to measure success or determine someone is defeating someone else in business competition in term of user base is simply misleading.
There are other factors to consider: Reach, user engagement, age groups/demographics, brand impact, and so on.
Gary Vaynerchuk says that Instagram is different from Twitter. I agree: Both has different consumption behaviors, and to determine whether one is bigger than another is just a waste of time.
Twitter is huge, and Instagram is also huge. You can use both for the benefit of your business. It doesn’t matter who’s bigger, in my opinion. And remember, both are still far behind Facebook, in term of user base. So…
All in all, each social network has its own characteristics – and that’s okay.
And yes, Twitter is not dead. I’m just using the headline to attract your attention 🙂 In fact, Twitter is evolving nicely – with its video feature and other improvements.
Both Twitter and Instagram are here to stay, whether you like it or not.
